MacAllisters Restaurant

Karen and Malcolm sold their business and home in Scotland with the aim of moving to America to start a new life and to open a Scottish style restaurant in the Sarasota area of Florida. They spent useful time researching the best location for their new business and identified Lakewood Ranch, Sarasota as the most appropriate. They then turned their attentions to obtaining visas to allow them to come to the U.S. to own and operate the restaurant; their realtor put them in touch with New Horizons Group, and they haven’t looked back since.

New Horizons Group specialists demonstrated the confidence and knowledge to assist Karen and Malcolm to get the visa that they needed to make their move from Scotland to Florida a realisation.

Migrate to Florida - MacAllistersThe whole process took about 24 weeks which is now more or less an average time to complete an E-2 visa application through the US Embassy in London.

After a year of in-depth research and several trips back and forth to Florida the Ronney’s obtained a suitable lease for premises, and then spent a further 4 months having the restaurant fitted out. They finally opened their doors for business in May 2006. Because Karen and Malcolm are not U.S. citizens obtaining finance and credit was a little difficult, but through perseverance they have succeeded in fulfilling their dream of opening their wonderful restaurant and once opened they haven’t looked back! They have already built themselves an enviable reputation for quality food and service and for their unique collection of fine single malt whiskeys.

The support that Malcolm and Karen have had from the local community has been overwhelming and they are very pleased that MacAllisters is open and that they know it has made everything worthwhile. Karen and Malcolm are now living their American Dream, no-one told them it would be easy, but with the support and experience of New Horizons Group, it has been possible!
